Polices, Terms and Conditions

As a mobile service provider where groom times and traffic are unable to be calculated exactly, your flexibility with appointment times on groom days are appreciated.
Please read the following information carefully:
Extreme Weather Conditions - HOT WEATHER If 48 hours prior to your appointment, temperatures be predicted to be 35 degrees, or above, you will be sent notification that your apppointment as been moved to the 'salon le chat' at my home in Strathalbyn (address will be advised in this notification) Early drop offs will be accepted, and pick ups will be negotiated on drop off. If the temperature is predicated to be between 30 degrees and 24 degrees, appointments will be brought forward in the day to avoid grooming in the heat of the day. Your understanding and flexibility with this is appreciated, as grooming in extreme temperatures is detrimental to your cat's health. Should extreme weather conditions such as rain, wind, hail, etc, be predicted on your grooming day, your appointment may need to be rescheduled to an alternative day as these conditions can be dangerous for both groomer, and your cat.

Matted Hair Removal Cats with matted coats will need extra attention during their grooming session. Tight mats can often be difficult to remove and will require the cat to be shaved. This may come with the risk of nicking, cuts or abrasions due to warts, moles or skin being trapped in the mats. Heavy matting can also trap moisture near the skin and cause skin irritations that existed prior to the groom. After effects of severe matting removal may include itchiness, skin redness, over 'grooming' by the cat, abrasions and failure of the hair to regrow. Short term behavioural changes may also occur. Prevention is the best defence against mats. Extra fees apply for matting removal. Matting fees start from $25
Accidents Unfortunately when working with live animals and sharp tools, this is always a possibilty. Although Pampered Pussycats uses extreme care and caution when handling your feline companion, possible problems can occur, particularly when your cat is wriggling around. This is why owners are not permitted in the van while grooming is taking place as this often encourages your cat to wriggle in their attempts to return to you.
Parasites Pampered Pussycats strives to be a flea free mobile service. If fleas are found during the grooming process, your cat will be treated with a Capstar flea tablet, or an alternative flea product. An additional $20 fee will be applied. If you have not authorised the use of flea treatment products, your cat will be returned to you at the stage of the groom that fleas were found and your full grooming fee will still be payable. If the flea infestation on your cat is significant, an additional $20 'flea bomb' fee will be applied.
Disclaimer - if the cat is unable to be safely removed from its carrier for its nails to be trimmed, it will be returned to the owner and a 'call out' fee will be applied.
Aggressive or Dangerous cats Owners must inform the groomer if your cat(s) bite, have bitten or is aggressive towards people or specific grooming procedures prior to the beginning of the groom. Muzzling, using an Air Muzzle, will not harm your cat, and protects both the cat and groomer from harm. Pampered Pussycats reserves the right to refuse/stop services for such cats at any time before or during the groom, and to charge a Handling Fee in addition to the regular grooming fee.
Health or Medical Issues, Senior Cats Grooming procedures can sometimes be stressful, especially to a senior cat or one with a medical condition. It can even expose hidden medical issues or aggravate a current one. Because senior cats and cats with medical conditions have a greater chance of injury and stress, these cats will be groomed for cleanliness and comfort first and foremost, additional services for owner comfort will be delivered depending on the tolerance of the cat on the day of the appointment. You agree to notify Pampered Pussycats of any medical issues prior to each appointment, but we also reserve the right to cancel services where a cat with a potentially infectious condition exists. Elderly cats must have had a vet health check within timeframes listed below in the 'At Risk' section prior to first time grooming
Injury or death
Should an injury occur, or be uncovered during the grooming process, that requires medical attention. Owner must take the cat to their vet - at their own expense. Permission must be granted for the vet to discuss this matter with Pampered Pussycats in order for further action to be taken by Pampered Pussycats. Should you cat pass away during the grooming process, or shortly after, a necropsy will be required, in order to definitively determine cause of death, prior to further action being taken by Pampered Pussycats.

Cats deemed to be "At Risk"
A cat may be determined to be "At Risk" due to any number of reasons. The most common being - Matting/pelting - Old Age - Health issues
Even the gentlest of grooming causes stress to an animal at a minimum because the animal is outside of its comfort zone. If your animal/s is/are deemed to be at additional risk the following terms must be agreed to prior to grooming taking place Cats with multiple "at risk" conditions must have a written veterinary clearance prior to grooming taking place. 1. Any grooming that takes place on an elderly cat or cat with health problems will be done so at the owners risk. Grooming may expose pre-existing health and/or skin conditions for which Pampered Pussycats cannot be held liable. Elderly cats are at higher risk for nicks and cuts from shaving. - Cats over the age of 10 years must have had a vet health check, including bloodwork, within the previous 12 months for a first time groom - Cats over the age of 13 years must have had a vet health check, including bloodwork, within the previous 6 months for a first time groom - Cats over the age of 15 years must have had a vet health check, including bloodwork, within the previous 3 month for a first time groom 2. Dematting/detangling of matted hair may cause patchiness or hair loss, and is done on this understanding. Removal of mats, whether by shaving or dematting, can be stressful to your pet and may exacerbate stress-sensitive health problems. 3. Certain illnesses and conditions including (but not limited to) diabetes, hyperthyroidism, heart murmur, hypertropic cardiomyopathy, seizures, and being overweight result in a higher risk of incident during grooming. Cats with thyroid conditions, diabetes or renal disease will only be groomed once veterinary clearance has been obtained. 4. Previously discussed grooming styles, ie Lion Cut, Comb Cut, etc, may not be completed due to the cats health condition. This decision is in the cats best interest to prevent harm from coming to them. Payment will be for any services completed in lieu of previously discussed styles.
